UllNevaNo Breaks It Down

My long time friend, UllNevaNo, sends me his break down of all of his songs on the COLOR BROWN MIXTAPE PART 2 and the inspiration behind it. Check it out!

"First and foremost i would like to thank everyone who showed the
support and downloading the "Color Brown Part 2" and the bloggers who
posted it as well, it was a long journey crafting this in between
working on other projects as well finishing it up in 8 months span. I
would also like to thank Dj Big Red 1ne for blessing the project with
mixing duties it turned out to be a dope mixtape. I can not stress
this enough Apollo Brown i dont know him i never met him, but i
appreciate his work and beats so this project is just me giving the
original instrumentals a bit of a twist(jacking for beats if you
will), so THESE ARE NOT MY BEATS!!! just wanted to  do a project
paying homage to the Detroit Producer thats all, also in celebration
of the release im having a listening party at Baltimore's own Pedx
Street Wear store Friday the 13th from 8pm-10pm.

1. Part 2(Black Pearls Instrumental):This particular beat really stood
out i was going  thru a gang of apollo beats and i had a difficult
time trying to find a beat that sounded like a intro, so i wanted to
make a proper introduction, and i just didnt wanna call it "Intro" i
felt like i was continuing where i left off with the first "color
brown" so i decided to call it "part 2."

2.Comes Natural(My Plateau Instrumental):This was actually the 2nd
song that i wrote to once i started pursuing the project, its from the
"Make Do" beat tape once i heard the nas sample from "Nas is Like" i
immediately knew what i wanted the song to be about, basically its
just me stating that when i write i never force rhymes let it come to
me, this is a anthem to fighting writers block. Dont over think it if
your a emcee just let it come to you. there are times when i dont
write for days its not that have a bran far or wrters block its just i
havent had that spark to be inspired and i just let it come to me
naturally, i know the first verse i wrote that on my lunch break at my
job.

3.Morning(Early Morning Instrumental):I wanted to rhyme in the
perspective of three different individuals of how they start their
morning, the first verse is a homeless person, the second is about a
college student who just finished partying, and the third is about an
aspiring emcee who just rocked a show and feeling the after effects
from the previous night.

4.Hand Movements(sweeter than wine instrumental):I wrote this after
seeing skyzoo's "definitive prayer" music video and i just remember
his hand movements matching up to the rhymes he was spitting and the
patterns and it showed that everything was bouncing off the wall that
was the inspiration behind writing this, i sat on the rhyme for maybe
2 months and didnt have a beat in mind to use it for, it all worked
out in the end though i just wanted something to smack listeners in
the face with constructive patterns and raw lyrics, out of all of the
leaks i shot to blogs this one recieved the most attention.

5.Who You Know(One Day Instrumental):Big shouts out to minus nine from
my Action Figures crew for putting me down with "The Left" the group
that apollo brown produces for before i used the instrumental i
listened to there album first from the "Gas Leaks" to "Gas Mask" which
by the way are some incredible projects. The purpose of who you know
was to let people know that getting in the industry of any kind, there
is going to be bumps down the road and im strongly convinced now its
not about talent anymore or if you can rhyme dope, you have to network
with the right people on top of that spend money such as investing in
yourself getting a publicist who can further your career its all one
big gamble in the end, some people forget about those that helped them
to get where there at i wont call anybody out in particular but their
artists that ive met that are all for self, unity is the key thats why
certain labels are so powerful now like Jamla for example.

6. Writers Workshop(Fooled For Thought Instrumental):Rappity Rap Ish

7.Outer Regions feat. Ahhzel(Balance Instrumental):This beat is from
"the reset" and "Clouds" project i reached out to ahhzel from late
bloomers he's based out in LA, if you never heard of late bloomers
their signed to Tres Records and they have a album out right now
called "Three Shades Brown" ahhzel's sound is real laid back and the
beats that he rhymes on are real synth heavy spaced out type drums, so
soon as i heard the beat i hit ahhzel on the bbm and was like "i got
this beat for the cb project you down?"  He was down, he did the hook
as well definitely shouts out to him for coming thru for me on the
collab, hopefully we can work together more in the future.

8.Accepted(Play The Game Instrumental):I used the beat off Boog Brown
and Apollo Brown, "Brown Study" which is a very dope album as well,
this particular song is very personal at the time i was dating this
chick who i found out the more we dated i noticed she was conscious of
the way i looked as far as my physical appearence goes, cause i wasn't
like her ex's in her eyes i guess i wasnt the ideal dude she was
looking for. Everybody has a flaw no matter what type of person it is
a celebrity etc, everyone has flaws and i honestly feel you should
embrace it or at least change it, and you have to accept yourself
first before anybody else can accept you, and if you get teased so
what!! You have to think positive and love yourself as a person, i may
be shooting a video for this come next month still ironing out the
details.

9.Substance feat. Tay Black, Logic Marselis and Stephen
Hicks(Substance Instrumental):These dudes are all fam you might've
remembered logic marselis who held production duties on our EP
"Instant Messengers" he also can rhyme as well, Tay i remembered him
asking me to be a part of the project when i did a interview for his
front line radio show, and he had his verse ready before anybody, the
one person that i was waiting on to make the song complete was Stephen
Hicks, and the deadline was close and i told myself i'm not finishing
this project without a stephen hicks verse, hes just one of those
emcees that has outstanding charisma whenever he rhymes so it was only
right consider this like a DMV posse cut, there all based out in
Virginia.

10.Horror Flck(Turn and Run Instrumental):Another beat i used from
"the reset" i remember writing this while visiting my parents in
Petersburg, Virginia lounging in the guest room lol and i just
finished listening to Planet Asia's "Boiler Makers" and the verses on
that joint had me hyped and inspired to write, if i could record it
all over again i would for some reason when i listen to it now it
doesnt sit right with me.

11.I Can't Take It(Gas Mask Instrumental):To be honest with ya'll, the
left had so many beats i wanted to rhyme on for this project but i
wanted to keep a equal amont from different albums to choose from i
just didnt wanna jack beats from that whole album, every beat on "Gas
Mask" is a banger seriously. I Cant Take It was a conceptual joint
touching base on followed trends as far as clothes is concerned going
from wearing throwback jerseys, huge white tees to now skinny jeans
tight button p shirts. Anyone who knows me knows that i'm a huge
street wear head from LRG, 10-deep, The Hundreds, Mishka and Diamond.
The second verse is based on my experience ive had at street wear
stores and the poor customer service, Supreme NYC and DC"s Major have
poor customer service just snobby kids who think their cooler than
everybody, i shop at street wear stores for the exclusives because you
wont find them anywhere else unless you shop online.

12. Quick Strike feat. Matth Damon(Scared Instrumental):Matth is dope
period!! and hes nicer than a handful of local emcees i just hope he
puts out more material, we recorded this joint at Street Legal Studios
in one take, but i had to the vocals fixed due to Mark aka LB our
engineer sent me the joint mixed down with the last 8 bars of my verse
with the levels very low, so i had to wait for like a month to get
that fixed, LB has a real good ear for when it comes to mixing but
that works entirely to much recording people on the daily if you ever
in Baltimore and need a spot to record street legal is the way to go.

13. Importance feat. Rome Cee(Odds aint Fair Instrumental): My Under
Sound Music brother Rome really came thru for me on this one and we
both just wanted to share on how important it is to be a emcee, after
i did a verse for him on the "Extra Mile" project i was for sure that
we was going to work together more, and the thing that i admire about
Rome is if your a dope lyricist and you want to collab he wont think
twice of saying yes hes all for building and working with people, hes
not the type of dude thats local barely has a buzz and is trying to
charge for verses, good brother right their.

14.Yesterday feat. E-Major (Carpe Diem Instrumental): I wanna shout
out E, for convincing me to drop the "Color Brown Part 2" on New Years
Day i was originally going to release it a couple of days before
christmas, but after a chat with E he figured it would be better just
to start the year off right with some good muse. Yesterday is about
how things changed over time with technology taking over and social
networks it seems like people dont have to conversate and as time
passes people change. A close friend of mine that i grew up with when
i was in California changed drastically over the course of time, by
the time we were older he ended up experiencing with drugs heavy and
he lost his faith. Out of all of the Collabs i did for this project
E-Major was the quickest to respond and execute a verse, i reached out
to him with the concept within like 2 hours he already has his verse
mixed and recorded and he emailed it me so shouts to E for the work
ethic.

15.Just Listen(The Melody Instrumental):This is my conclusion to the
"Color Brown Part 2" the outro, which was the last the left "Gas Mask"
beat that i used."" ~UllNevaNo
